Master’s Degree in Music Education
Music education is a field of knowledge that has developed specific methodologies and teachings with the purpose of bringing music closer to children and contributing to their comprehensive education. These methodologies aim to develop children’s musical, as well as extra-musical skills.
This program was born as a result of the increasing demand for specific music education training. The Master in Music Education is a unique degree in Spain based on the wide experience obtained from the Barenboim-Said Foundation’s music education projects. Some of the most qualified music education teachers and professionals participate in this master’s degree.
This program offers active and future music teachers a broad and comprehensive professionalizing high-level training in the theory and practice of some the most popular methodologies in music education. Topics such as the basic elements of singing and choral singing, choral repertoire, arrangement of pieces for choir, in the foundations of music therapy and community music therapy, in the theories of childhood and adolescence development and in musical education research are also taught in this program.
The Master is a 60 European credit (ECTS) degree organized, every two years, by the Barenboim-Said Foundation, together with the International University of Andalusia.
